About Hospital Hill

Heritage, ethos and the people who lead a school that has shaped young men in Nairobi for nearly half a century.

Our story

Nearly fifty years on the hill

Hospital Hill High School began in 1977 as a mixed day school in Parklands, taking its name from the hill it first stood on. In 1979 it moved to its present home in the Highridge–Nyari area off Red Hill Road, and in 1983 the Government of Kenya took it over as a Harambee-assisted institution.

Over the decades the school grew into a double-stream and then a multi-stream institution. In 2015 it transitioned into a boys' boarding school, and today it is a public Extra-County senior school of more than a thousand learners. Under the move to CBE it is being renamed Hospital Hill Senior School — admitting Grade 10 learners from 2026 while its Form 3 and Form 4 cohorts complete 8-4-4 — proudly carrying the motto “Aspire & Inspire.”

From our leadership

KB
Mr. Kennedy S. Bunyasi

SM
Ms. Scholastica Muange

“Working with the Dean of Studies and heads of department, we monitor learning at every level. Forms 3 and 4 complete the 8-4-4 curriculum while Grade 10 begins CBE in 2026, with a full day of prep, lessons and co-curricular enrichment.”

CO
Mr. Crispo O. Owino

“Since 2017 the school has grown significantly — new dormitories, renovated classrooms and expanded laboratories — guided by firm but fair discipline and a steady investment in facilities and technology as we move into CBE.”

DN
Mr. Dennish Nyagol

“We coordinate the school's academic vision and performance targets. Teachers follow a vertical-teaching model — staying with their learners to the final examination — preparing them with the knowledge, skills and values to succeed in higher education at home and abroad.”
